Stratnoid Aluminium Alloy Metal Thimble Size 8

This is a Stratnoid metal thimble which is made from an aluminium alloy called Duralim, this makes them light and easy to use, but strong and durable. The thimble has a plain band around the base with "Stratnoid England" stamped on it with the size mark "8" on the right side of that. Most Stratnoid thimbles have a size mark on the left as well as the right, and "Stratnoid England" is in cllear lozenge shape but this one is that bit different, it may be that the other marks have worn away, but the remaining marks look sharp enough. Above this the thimble has a traditional dimpled pattern. There are no makers marks on the thimble, but Stratnoid thimbles were produced in Birmingham between 1922 and 1941. The thimble is approximately 23mm tall by 18mm base diameter.

The thimble is in excellent condition, with no chips, holes or repairs, although it is no longer perfectly round. It is not in the original box, but will be supplied in a clear perspex thimble dome which is suitable for storage or display. The thimble dome is approximately 32mm wide and 48mm high.
