Royal Worcester Thimble Pope 1982 Visit Crown & Keys

This is a china thimble by Royal Worcester to commemorate the Pope's visit to Great Britian in 1982. The thimble has been decorated with a gilded line around the base and another around the top, and also with pictures of the Triregnum, a Crown with 3 levels, and 2 crossed keys, 1 gold and 1 silver, which represent the "Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven". The inside of the thimble is stamped with the Royal Worcester mark and "Papal Visit 1982" below it, all in blue. The thimble is approximately 26mm tall by 22mm base diameter.

The thimble is in very good condition, with no chips, holes or repairs, although the top feels slightly rough as though there is no glaze, and it is discoloured, as can be seen in the last photo. It is not in the original box, but will be supplied in a clear perspex thimble dome which is suitable for storage or display. The thimble dome is approximately 32mm wide and 48mm high.
